Rare Multi-Glazed Redware Vase, attributed to J. Eberly & Co. or S. Bell & Sons, Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, ovoid-bodied form with footed base and narrow flaring neck, the lead-glazed surface decorated with splashes of manganese, copper, and cream-colored slip over an orange ground. Incised banding to shoulder and midsection. Unusual small size and slender-bodied form. Provenance: Purchased by the consignor from James and Nancy Glazer in 1986. An in-the-making chipped section to rim, which is glazed over. A small chip to interior of rim and light rim wear. A few minor base chips. H 8 1/4".
