Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed design of a flowering plant featuring a tulip flanked by graduated blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent condition with some staining and a small in-the-firing surface chip to side of jug. H 15".
