Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, a one-gallon ovoid jug with cobalt dashes surrounding the impressed maker's mark, "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER. / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," early 19th century, paired with a small-sized, ovoid jar with floral decoration, stamped "L. NORTON, &.Co.," Luman Norton, Bennington, VT, circa 1823-1833. Jug with restoration to spout, significant restoration to right side, including touch-up to bottom left of decoration, as well as small unrestored base chips, two short unrestored hairlines at base on reverse, a small, unrestored in-the-firing surface chip to midsection, and wear to interior of spout. Jar with rim chips, expected wear to inner rim for lid, two minor base nicks, an in-the-firing line in the terminal of each handle, and two small in-the-firing iron pings to surface.
