Shenandoah Valley Redware Wall Pocket with Applied Bird and Floral Decoration, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, late 19th century, wheel-thrown form with footed base, flattened back, and scrolled handle, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied decoration of a bird perched on a flowering plant, feeding a stylized blossom. Incised and impressed details throughout. Surface covered in a beige slip. Restored bird's head. Otherwise excellent condition with an in-the-firing ping to end of handle and a tiny rim nick. H 8".
