Four Pieces of Utilitarian Pottery, American, 19th century, a redware jar with mottled lead-and-manganese glaze, second half 19th century; a miniature stoneware jug, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "D J KEEFE & CO / 111 DARTMOUTH ST / BOSTON MASS," Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1875; a molded stoneware jug with elaborate relief foliate decoration; and a preserve or oyster jar, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "MADE EXPRESSLY FOR / C.D. BROOKS BOSTON." Redware jar with a 1 1/4" base chip, a 3" crack from rim, a 2" crack descending from a rim chip, and surface wear. Miniature jug in excellent condition. Molded jug with lines to underside, a salt drip to reverse, and a short in-the-firing line along seam at base. Jar with a minor rim chip and light staining to surface. H (of miniature jug) 4 5/8" ; H (of tallest) 12 1/4".
