Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Baltimore, MD origin, second quarter 19th century, a one-gallon churn with brushed, fan-shaped floral motif on front and reverse, circa 1850; paired with a one-gallon cylindrical jar with elaborate brushed tulip motif and stripe below rim, attributed to David Parr, Sr., circa 1825. Churn with large spider crack to collar, including a 6" crack descending through handle, chips to opposite handle, one of which is glazed over, a chip to interior of rim, minor chipping to inner rim for lid, and hairlines to underside. Jar with 3 1/2" in-the-firing flake to rim, an approximately 9" crack from rim, cracks to rim, in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder, and some small traces of old red paint. H (of churn) 11 1/2".
