Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL," Waynesboro, PA, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder, decorated with brushed tulip motifs on the front and sides, applied over a slip-coated surface. The distinctive style of the tulips indicates the jug was decorated, and presumably made, by John Bell's son, Charles Frederick Bell (1840-1899). Exceptional size with strong decoration. Essentially as-made condition with minor nicks to spout and some in-the-firing contact marks to surface, including a shallow in-the-firing chip to handle. H 7 3/4".
