Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to E.B. Hissong, Cassville, PA, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tall collar with heavily-tooled rim, decorated with a brushed design of an undulating vine bearing flowers and graduated leaves. Swag decoration to collar and flanking the spout. Vertical wavy line decoration to collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Literature: Illustrated in Schaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners. Provenance: Ex-Dean Reynolds Collection with his collection sticker, dated 3/18/65, on underside. Excellent condition with a minor spout chip. H 12 3/4".
