Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Huntington, Long Island, NY origin, mid to late 19th century, a two-gallon with flowering plant motif, stamped "F.J. CAIRE, / Huntington, L.I.," circa 1854-1863, paired with a four-gallon crock with brushed decoration of a stem bearing six flowers and a cluster of grapes, stamped "BROWN BROTHERS, / HUNTINGTON, / L.I.," circa 1885-1905. Jug with tightly-sealed cracks in underside, extending onto reverse and side of jug, where it is partially painted. Additionally, a small base chip and some in-the-firing dryness to surface. Crock with some light exfoliation to reverse, in otherwise excellent condition. H (of jug) 12".
