Five Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Mugs, American, second half 19th century, one with cobalt banding, incised "C L B," attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA; one with cobalt banding, stamped "ATLANTIC GARDEN / 50 / BOWERY," probably NY City origin; one incised "Q B C;" one with cobalt banding, incised "Wm. E. Stone;" and one impressed "ROBERT PORTNER BREWING CO. / TIVOLI / TRADE / MARK / ALEXANDRIA, VA. U.S.A.," attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY. "C L B" mug with surface crazing, a line to base of handle, some fry to cobalt, the base with short lines, small chips and a 5/8" reglued flake to underside. Bowery mug with two rim chips, a crack from rim on front, a faint hairline from rim on reverse, and a small in-the-firing contact mark to side of mug. Stone mug in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a salt glob to underside. "Q B C" mug in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Alexandria mug with two hairlines from rim and a minor in-the-firing surface fissure to underside, not visible on interior. H (of tallest) 5 1/8".
