Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "BENNINGTON / FACTORY," Captain John Norton, Bennington, VT, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed floral motif with looping stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and lower handle terminal. Relatively few examples have survived bearing this stamp, the earliest mark used by the Norton family of potters. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11".
