One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Eagle-on-Cannon Motif, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jug with heavy tooling to spout and shoulder, decorated with an impressed design of a spread-winged eagle atop a cannon with cannon balls. Light dipped iron-slip decoration to base. A small base chip and a few very minor base nicks. An in-the-firing surface chip below maker's mark. An in-the-firing chip to handle. A minor in-the-firing iron ping to base on front. H 12 1/2".
