Rare Iron-Decorated Stoneware Vase with Elaborate Incised Banding, Middle TN origin, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid form with flaring collar and crimped rim, the body profusely-decorated with alternating straight and wavy bands of combed incising. Straight bands further embellished with brushed iron slip banding. Albany-slip-glazed interior, which is colored yellowish-green from contact with salt during the firing. The largest and most extravagantly-decorated example of this form that we have seen in Middle Tennessee stoneware, the brushed banding related to a presentation flower jug from the same region, lot 148 in Crocker Farm's July 20, 2019 auction. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 8 3/4".
