Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Dated "1833," probably Eaton & Stout, South River, NJ, 1833, measuring two and three gallons, both of ovoid form, decorated with the date, "1833," underscored by a foliate design. Two-gallon jug with a tight crack across underside, continuing onto base on front and reverse, a minor base chip, a small in-the-firing ping to front and top of spout, and staining. Three-gallon jug with an in-the-firing line to base of handle, some staining to base, faint (possibly in-the-firing) lines to base, a base chip, and some minor base nicks. The weight of the three-gallon jug indicates it still holds some of its original, now solidified, contents. H (of taller) 14 3/4".
