Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "LIBERTY FOREV / S.AMBOY.N.JERSY/ WARNE & LETTS 1807," Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, 1807, ovoid jar with footed base, open loop handles, and flared rim, featuring elaborate Warne & Letts maker's stenciling, including the desirable slogan, "LIBERTY FOREV," within a sawtoothed border with pointing hand. Impressed scalloped drape motif to midsection. Coggled column design within a sawtoothed border at shoulder. Light cobalt highlights to handles and impressed decoration. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection. Missing majority of one handle. Spider cracks to bottom half of jar, extending to underside. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing surface flake to side of jar. Base chips. A tiny chip to interior of rim. H 14".
