Extremely Rare Manganese-Decorated Redware Keg, Whitewater, WI origin, mid to late 19th century, wheel-thrown keg with raised banding and applied tubular pouring spout, decorated around the midsection with a series of ten brushed flowers emanating from scalloped stems. Manganese highlights to banding. Orange base clay assumes a distinctive yellowish coloration when fired. Highly unusual form for this potting school, exhibiting strong decoration. Chips to spout. A small base chip. Minor nicks to raised banding. Minor surface wear. H 9".
