Slip-Decorated Redware Pitcher, New England origin, circa 1840-1880, squat-shaped, ovoid pitcher with footed base and semi-rounded rim, decorated with splashed manganese and heavily-splashed yellow slip under a clear lead glaze. A related pitcher resides in the collection of the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Provenance: From a fifty-year private collection. Wear to top and interior of rim. Wear to spout and edge of handle. A 5/8" chip to foot. Very minor wear to interior base. H 5" ; Diam. (at base) 4 3/8".
