One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1855, ovoid pitcher with tooled collar and footed base, decorated with a two-stemmed flowering plant emanating from the base. Cobalt floral decoration to collar. Wavy cobalt stripe to rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection. Poorly-restored losses to rim area and two areas on spout. A 4" crack from rim on side of pitcher. A few minor base chips. A minor in-the-firing surface chip near base on reverse. Two short, faint surface lines to foot. Some light staining to surface. H 10 1/2".
