Large-Sized Stoneware Bellarmine Jug, probably Frechen, Germany, 16th or 17th century, highly-ovoid jug with tall spout and tooled mouth, featuring a molded and applied design of a bearded man's face on the spout and a medallion with crown above a flower on the front. Surfaced dipped in iron slip and covered in a salt glaze. Base of handle with four impressed fingerprints. Shallow chipping to base. A minor chip to bottom edge of spout. A 5/8" surface chip to reverse. Crazing to base area. H 13 1/2".
