Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Flowerpot Pitcher, attributed to Billy Merritt, Crawford County, GA, late 19th century, wide-bodied, tapered form with squared rim molding and tooled midsection, the surface covered in a mottled, olive-colored alkaline glaze. Provenance: Collection of Dr. John A. Burrison, Atlanta, GA; on loan to the Atlanta History Center, Atlanta, GA since 1981. Loss to spout. A 1 3/8" hairline from rim, descending from a small chip. A second 1 3/8" hairline from rim. A shallow 1" chip to interior of rim, extending a short distance onto exterior. A minor rim chip near spout. H 5 5/8" ; Diam. (across top) 7".
