Three-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Alkaline Glaze, attributed to Franklin Lafayette Becham, Crawford County, GA, late 19th century, ovoid jar with flared rim and two applied strap handles, the surface covered in a light-green alkaline glaze with darker coloration around the base. Provenance: Collection of Dr. John A. Burrison, Atlanta, GA; on loan to the Atlanta History Center, Atlanta, GA since 1981. Firing cracks in underside, not visible on interior. A large flake to interior base. In-the-firing lines to one handle. A 3 3/4" in-the-firing vertical separation line to interior rim/ shoulder area, not visible on exterior. Minor traces old green paint to exterior, unrelated to any sort of restoration. H 14 3/4".
