Four-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Landrum Cross Marks, attributed to the B.F. Landrum Pottery, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jar with flared rim and arched lug handles, the surface covered in gray-green alkaline glaze. Handles with distinctive fingernail gouge marks at their juncture with the body of the jar. Deeply-impressed with four Landrum crosses above one handle. Provenance: Found by the consignor in Georgia decades ago. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 14 1/2".
