Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Ring Jug, attributed to the Stone or Penland Potteries, Buncombe County, NC, fourth quarter 19th century, wheel-thrown, ring-shaped form with applied pouring spout and oblong base, the surface covered in a glossy, streaked alkaline glaze in shades of brown. Appealing form and glaze. Excellent as-made condition with some shallow, in-the-firing chipping (kiln scars) to base and a small piece of applied clay at base. Additionally, remnants of wax to base. H 9 7/8".
