Scarce and Fine Multi-Glazed Redware Jug, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with streaks of cream, manganese, and copper slip under a clear lead glaze. Provenance: From a fifty year private collection; The George S. McKearin Collection of American Pottery, No. 607. Jug includes McKearin label. A 1 7/8" in-the-firing separation line on reverse. A curved separation line at juncture of upper handle terminal with body of jug. Three small spots of wear to top edge of spout. Area of surface wear above McKearin label. H 7 1/4".
