One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled body, and semi-squared rim, brush-decorated on the front with a double-stemmed plant bearing four Germanic-style tulips and two buds. Swag decoration to the sides of the pitcher's body, flanking the spout, and on the sides of the collar. Base of handle with unusual hanging tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surface collection. Thin cracks on underside, continuing onto base, including one crack extending 5" horizontally on left side of pitcher at base. H 10 7/8".
