Glazed Redware Jar with Coggled Decoration, attributed to Jacob Heart, Chambersburg, PA, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tapered shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated at the shoulder and base with coggled semicircular designs. Surface decorated with marbled manganese decoration under a clear lead glaze. Provenance: From a fifty-year private collection. A few small surface flakes near base. A few minor nicks to exterior of rim and minor spots of glaze loss to top/interior of rim. Some wear to coggling. Minor wear to bottom edge. A few very faint, short surface lines to foot of jar, not visible on interior and likely in the firing. H 7".
