Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "WM. MOYER.," Harrisburg, PA origin, circa 1858-1861, ovoid pitcher with pronounced rim molding and wide spout, decorated on the front with a brushed design of a leafy stem bearing two tulips. Impressed above with scarce "WM. MOYER." maker's mark, highlighted in cobalt. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The first pitcher bearing William Moyer's maker's mark that we have ever offered, this example featuring a clean appearance with exceptional color. Excellent condition with a 2" hairline to right of spout, some small chips to bottom edge of rim molding, and a minuscule base nick. H 11".
