Rare Glazed Redware Ewer, American, early to mid 19th century, ovoid form with narrow mouth, footed base, and ribbed handle, the surface decorated with vertical streaks of manganese under a clear lead glaze. Exceptional vase-like form with appealing, striped glaze treatment. Provenance: From a fifty-year private collection. Contact marks to underside. A small base chip. Rim with two small chips and wear. Handle with three small chips to edge, a tiny nick to midsection of handle, and very light surface wear to handle. Light surface wear of ewer, primarily at midsection and near base on reverse. Three tiny glaze pings to surface. H 8".
