Fine Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Iron Slip Floral Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jug with narrow, semi-squared spout, the surface coated in a green alkaline glaze, the front decorated in iron-slip with a slip-trailed "broken stem" motif featuring the number "2" within the blossom. Provenance: A South Carolina private collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition, rarely seen in pieces from this region. H 14".
