Two Cobalt-Decorated Remmey Family Stoneware Jars, Baltimore and Philadelphia origins, 19th century, both of cylindrical form; a one-gallon example with swag decoration, stamped "H. MYERS," attributed to Henry Remmey or Henry H. Remmey at Henry Myers Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, Baltimore, MD, circa 1825; paired with a two-gallon example with swag-and-hanging-flower motif, stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA. Provenance: Suzita Cecil Myers Collection. Myers jar with chipping around base, a 1 5/8" rim chip and other small rim chips, a 1 3/4" hairline from rim, and a large X-shaped line across underside. Other jar with rim chips, significant fry to cobalt, and remnants of old tannish paint (unrelated to any restoration) to surface and cobalt, indicating the entire jar was painted at one time. H (of Myers jar) 10 1/2".
