Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRISBURG PA," attributed to William Moyer, Harrisburg, PA, circa 1856-1861, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a brushed floral motif featuring buds flanking a pair of leafy stems forming a wreath. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Provenance: Michael Wissler Collection. A network of tight cracks on underside, some of which continue a few inches up front of jar, one that extends to shoulder on reverse, another that extends a few inches up reverse, and several short lines that stop at the bottom edge on reverse. A thin 6" crack from rim on right side of jar. A small rim chip on reverse.
