Scarce Glazed Redware Jug Bank, Stamped "JOHN BELL," Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1840-1880, semi-ovoid form with narrow spout and applied strap handle, the shoulder incised with a large coin slot. Surface decorated with heavy manganese sponging under a clear lead glaze. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark. Desirable form. Exceptional as-made condition, retaining a brilliant "like-new" luster, with only two very short, glazed-over lines emanating from the coin slot. The lack of damage around the slot and pristine condition of this work suggest it was never used. H 4 1/2".
