Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Pottersville, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1830, ovoid pitcher with tall, flaring collar and pale-green alkaline glaze. This small-sized example exhibits a charming crudeness in its potting, noticeable in its squat-shaped form, handle application, and raised band at the base of the collar. Provenance: A South Carolina private collection. A 2 1/4" x 7/8" reglued section extending to rim from right edge of spout. Two spout chips. A few minor rim chips. H 7 5/8".
