Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Edward Stone, Buncombe County, NC, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and semi-squared rim, the surface covered in a dark-brown alkaline "paint rock" glaze. Provenance: A South Carolina private collection. Excellent condition with a few tiny rim nicks, a tiny spout nick, and a very shallow 1 1 /4" in-the-firing base flake. H 8 1/2".
