One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "CORLEARS / HOOK," Thomas Commeraw, Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, circa 1810, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and footed base, decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motif, resembling a clamshell. Lightly-impressed below with the cobalt-highlighted mark, "CORLEARS / HOOK." Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A very large, approximately 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" reglued section to reverse/side, with two cracks extending off from it. Base chips. A shallow, 7/8" in-the-firing chip to handle. A horizontal hairline through handle. Some spots of surface wear. In-the-firing surface flaws.
