Rare Stoneware Flowerpot with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to the Whites Pottery, Utica, NY, circa 1875, tapered pot with attached saucer and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a flowering vine. When found, New York State stoneware flowerpots were typically produced in Fort Edward. This example is the first manufactured at the White's Pottery in Utica that we have offered. Restoration to a long inverted Y-shaped crack to right side and vertical crack on reverse. An approximately 5" x 1" section to saucer rim on front. A short hairline to saucer on front. A tiny nick to saucer rim and a small in-the-firing iron ping to saucer rim. Diam. (of saucer) 10 1/4". H 8 5/8".
