Small-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "SWAN & STATES / STONINGTON," CT origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with applied lug handles and tooling at base of collar, decorated with cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Very nice condition. A 2" line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior. A small rim chip. A faint 1 1/2" Y-shaped surface line on reverse and a faint 2 3/4" spider line to reverse, not visible on interior. A small, shallow base chip. A small in-the-firing chip to underside. H 8 1/4".
