Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churns, Midwestern origin, circa 1875, both of semi-ovoid form, a five-gallon and six-gallon churn with slip-trailed numerals above a "bee stinger" motif. Six-gallon churn in excellent condition with a 1 5/8" hairline above one handle. Five-gallon churn with a shallow 1 1/8" base chip, a small rim chip, a minor chip to interior of rim, small chips to inner rim for lid, and some small chips to exterior of rim, most of which occurred in the firing and is glazed over. H (of six-gallon churn) 17 3/8".
