Fine Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt "Snake" Decoration, attributed to Henry K. Atchison, New Geneva, PA, circa 1860, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and flared "wax sealer" rim, decorated with two brushed vertical wavy stripes resembling snakes. A 1 1/4" flake to top of rim. Four small rim chips. A small piece of adhered in-the-firing clay at base. A minor in-the-firing ping to base. A shallow 3/4" flake to underside at edge. H 8 1/2".
