Scarce Large-Sized Redware Flowerpot with Copper Glaze, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, tapered flowerpot with attached saucer and unusual raised molding to inner edge of rim, the surface covered in a bright-green lead-and-copper glaze. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Excellent color and somewhat larger size than is typically found. Heavy wear to rim of saucer. Shallow chipping to rim of flowerpot and wear to interior shoulder of flowerpot. Glazed body of flowerpot survives in strong condition with no exfoliation and only some minor surface wear to the glaze. H 7 1/4" ; Diam. (across opening) 8 1/4".
