Rare Southern Sewer Tile Dog Paperweight, Stamped "SUMTER BRICK WORKS," Sumter, SC origin, early 20th century, miniature brick surmounted by a reclining figure of a dog, impressed "SUMTER BRICK / WORKS" on the front, "AIREDALE BRICK" on each side, and "SO DARNED UGLY / THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL" are the reverse. Hand-incised details to dog's paws. An in-the-firing surface fissure to dog's head. Various shallow chips and wear. L 3 3/4" ; W 1 7/8" ; H 2 1/4".
