Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835, ovoid-bodied, thin-walled pitcher, decorated around the body and collar with a brushed stem bearing leaves and four-petaled flowers. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals, the lower handle terminal including heavy swag decoration. Shoulder inscribed "3" at shoulder. Exceptional size. A 1 3/4" chip to interior of rim, adjoining a smaller chip to exterior of rim. A small chip to opposite side of pitcher's rim. Two tiny spout nicks and a 3/4" surface line to exterior of spout. A shallow 3/8" base chip. H 15 1/4".
