Two-Gallon Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Impressed Eagle-and-Cannon Motif, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base, tooled spout, and dramatic combed incising to the shoulder, decorated with an impressed design of a spread-winged eagle perched on a cannon beside a stack of cannonballs. Dipped iron-oxide slip decoration to spout and base. Very nice condition with a 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake to underside and a small base chip.
