Exceptional Rockingham Presentation Hunt Scene Pitcher with Applied Frog, Inscribed "W / M.C / DONOUGH," attributed to John L. Rue & Co., South Amboy, NJ, circa 1860-1871, molded pitcher with twig-form handle and relief decoration of hunters on horseback with hounds chasing a stag, the surface decorated in mottled brown and amber over a yellowish ground. Front inscribed with the name, "W / M.C / DONOUGH," in applied white letters. Interior glazed white. Large molded frog with pierced eyes, glazed in a green, brown, and blue, applied to interior base. Professional restoration to one hound head and chest of one horse. Small areas of professional restoration to relief decoration along edge of the pitcher's flared belly. Two small painted chips to top of handle. A small in-the-firing kiln scar on underside. H 9 1/4".
