Exceptional Anna Pottery Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pig Flask, Signed "By Anna Pottery / 1882," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, 1882, molded flask in the form of a reclining pig with hole at rear, incised details to face and hooves, and anatomically-correct underside, incised on one side with the cobalt-highlighted inscription, "Railroad & River Guide / By Anna Pottery / 1882." Remainder of pig incised with a cobalt-highlighted map of the Midwest, including the following landmarks: St. Louis the future Great, Miss River, C A & St L. R.R, Bloomington, Springfield, Alton, O & M R.R., Grand tower, Jonesboro, Cairo, C.B.i.C.R.R., Odin, Centralia, Tamaroa, DuQuoin, Carbondale, Vincens, mounds, Dubu'Que, Dunleith, Anna, Cincinnati the Pork City, and Chicago the Corn City. Featuring a desirable salt-glazed surface and crisp Kirkpatrick penmanship, this flask is among the finest Anna examples that we have ever offered.
