Rare Glazed Redware Devil's Head Pipe, attributed to John Taber, Wolfeboro, NH, circa 1870, molded pipe with bowl molded in the form of a well-detailed devil head, including prominent goatee, smiling mouth with sharp teeth, and pointed ears. Surface covered in a lead-and-manganese glaze. Literature: S. Paul Jung, John Taber and John Taber, Jr.: Two New England Clay Tobacco Pipemakers, 1996, p. 55. Chip to goatee. Otherwise excellent condition. L 1 15/16" ; H 2 3/8".
