Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Devil Face Jug, attributed to Lanier Meaders, Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1970, ovoid jug with applied clay devil's face including elliptical eyes, eyebrows, well-sculpted nose, pierced ears, twisted horns, and a smiling mouth with two pointed rock teeth. Surface covered in a mottled brown alkaline glaze. Unsigned. An earlier work by one of Georgia's leading folk artists, in a rare and desirable form. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 9".
