Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to George Lent, New York State origin, circa 1820-1835, ovoid form with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed floral motif with splayed leaves and blossom surrounded by spots. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The decoration on this churn is closely-related to designs found on Lent's Lansingburgh, NY stoneware. A 1 1/8" chip to interior of rim. Small chips to exterior of rim. A large X-shaped hairline to left side of churn's front. A smaller X-shaped hairline to right side of churn's front.
