Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crocks, Both Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, both of cylindrical, handled form with brushed foliate designs, each measuring approximately one to one-and-a-half gallons. Both with R.C.R. maker's marks under each handle. One includes its original swag-decorated lid. One crock with a chip to one handle, a post-firing chip and glazed-over chip to interior of rim, and water glass staining to interior. Other crock with fry to cobalt, four hairlines from rim (the longest measuring 5 3/4"), staining and residue to surface, and a small rim chip. Lid with heavy chips to knob, some exfoliation to underside, and staining to underside. H (of each) approx. 7 3/4".
