Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Cream Pitcher, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, ovoid pitcher with footed base and flared collar, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with streaks of copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Lighter application of the lead glaze in some areas gives the surface a Bacher-like appearance. A thin, top-to-bottom Y-shaped crack on front. Two small pieces of adhered clay at base on reverse. A small Y-shaped surface line at base, not visible on interior. Some very minor rim and spout wear. A small in-the-firing contact mark on reverse of handle. H 6 3/4".
